Workplace Conduct for 2019 – Your Action Plan

What does 2019 hold for your business? Hopefully, growth, opportunities and a happy team are all in store. To help bolster all of these, it’s the perfect time to revisit your workplace conduct procedures.

Update your Workplace Code of Conduct

When was the last time you updated your Workplace Code of Conduct? It’s always good practice to start the New Year by reviewing your policies and making sure they are still fit for purpose. Do they suit the size of your team? Is diversity within your team considered? Are they up-to-date with current equality legislation?

Refresh your team with workplace conduct training

Have your team received workplace conduct and anti-harassment training in the last year? If not, now is a great time to bring everyone up-to-date. Effective workplace conduct training teaches your team about the behaviors expected of them both inside and outside of the workplace. Opt for eLearning and you’ll be able to keep track of your team’s progress without needing to arrange a time that works for everyone.

Review your issue resolution procedures

Do your staff know who to approach if they have a problem? Do you have a procedure in place for review and resolve issues? Make sure you have an issue resolution procedure in place which is clear and fit for purpose. Make sure it is fair, free from potential bias, and clearly documented.

Bring your dress code up-to-date

If you have a dress code, it’s a great time to review and check it is still suitable. Do you require certain PPE to be worn and is this provided? Does it make accommodations for certain groups of people based on their religion, ethnicity or disability? Does it still reflect your brand values?

Review your social media policy

In today’s world of social media, it’s more important than ever to have a clear, documented policy regarding the way your employees talk about you on social media. Ensure it covers new technologies (such as new social media platforms and new features within existing platforms.) Remember, it is often a great thing to have your staff talking positively about your business online, but make sure they understand the boundaries you have put in place to protect the business.

If you’re looking to refresh your Workplace Conduct training this year, Sovy Academy offers low cost, flexible eLearning perfect for your business.
